Why a blog you ask?
Many of you are probably thinking....why do a blog site? I thought the same thing but God has been pounding this idea in my head for weeks which coincidently turned into months. I once heard a preacher work through the question of "How do I know if it's me, or God wanting me to do something?" His answer has always stuck with me, If it is of you, you will forget about it in a couple of days, If it is of God, He will keep bringing it back up in your mind and through small incidences in life that remind you of it for weeks, months, and years. If you have followed Christ with your life for any length of time, God has probably been knocking on your hearts door. You feel like He wants you do do something, you can't get it out of your mind, you think about it all the time, it all most seems to consume you at times. You know the feeling, you feel like God has called you to ministry, to missions, to do something incredibly radical or what you would consider insane.
About Me?
This has always been a puzzling question for me to answer. People ask you to introduce yourself all the time or ask "Who are you?" I never really know what people want to hear. Once you begin you usually start with where you are from, what you have done up until this point, and what you do now [such as your career]. I will tell you all of that in just a few pages. [I'm kidding] The other answer that Christians are inclined to give is that their identity is in Christ. How many of us though have ever actually given this answer, if we did people would think that we think that we are special class of Christians, like nothing ever bothers us, like we have no insecurities, like we don't struggle with problems. They also may be inclined to think that we just trying to show off, flex our spiritual muscles to make others feel less competent. Instead of dawdling on and on about myself I will suffice it to say that you will probably get to know me through reading these blogs more than anything else.
Intellectual Consistency
I want to make sure that through this blog that I maintain an intellectual consistency. If I do something everyday in real life but refuse to the same thing when I read or interpret the Bible I'm being a hypocrite. Some theologian, [you] might have just thought in his mind, we don't interpret the Bible, the Holy Spirit of God works through us to interpret and give us knowledge. You may be thinking at this point, what does he mean to be intellectually consistent? I once read a blog by complete accident by a man who was saying the Bible doesn't in literal terms teach the doctrine of the Trinity. I to a certain extent would agree with Him, the Bible never specifically spells this out, but if you use context clues and make inferences you could logically conclude the Trinity exist. [Read John 10:30] If I make intellectual inferences in my everyday life and use context clues based on how people talk in my normal life, why would I refuse to set that aside once beginning to read the Bible. I'm not going to cover the doctrinal nature of the Trinity right now [although I do believe it], I will cover that in a blog. Every day there seems to be a new video, teaching, or controversy pop up about some contradiction in Christianity by some professor that believes he has found the proof for the contradiction. Most of these that I read or watch tend to have one glaringly apparent flaw, they tend to take every single piece of evidence in the Bible literally but would never do the same thing in their everyday life. Imagine their wife walks out the door and says "I'll be back in a minute" After 60 seconds go by I highly doubt they are calling the law or driving up and down the road searching for them because their wife is late. I know this is a very extreme and small example but it just makes a point.
